What a dump

I taught there from 1963-1966

Lastly, in our daughter's words, she is glad to not have to "check my faith at the door." Our experience in the public schools is that any thoughts remotely connected to faith are shushed quickly (at best) or summarily dismissed. At Holy Family, faith is integrated in everything they do. It's a refreshing and affirming point of view, and as Evangelicals we are enjoying learning about the Catholic traditions and viewpoints as we all worship God together. It makes me grin to hear the cross-country team do the "Hail Mary" as their team cheer at meets. Go Family!

(Mother of child who was at HFHS and who switched to Fairview HS)

My daughter is a freshman at HFHS. We have been impressed with many aspects of the school, but three things really stand out: first of all, the teachers and staff have treated all of us as family right from the beginning. We have felt welcomed and included even though we aren't Catholic. My husband remarked the other day that we really look forward to going up to the school and volunteering--we feel part of the family at Family!

If you want a great education for your child(ren) and the emphasis is 'quality' vs cloistered, narrow-minded environment, then look schools where not only are the educators excited and talented but the academics, sports, clubs and volunteer activities are rated high as well. Fairview High School, Boulder, and even Broomfield HS, Broomfield are much better choices.

April 2015

The whole point of a high school education is to prepare your child to further develop their mind (not brainwash them with parochial teachings- save that for Sunday mornings), expand their knowledge of the world and give them as much support as possible to enter a great college.

Secondly, for the first time in her school life, our daughter is truly challenged academically. The homework load is 2-4 hours a night and on weekends. Don't let that scare you away; we have found that she loves the challenge and sense of accomplishment she gets from working hard to learn, as opposed to just drifting along getting "good enough" grades. Her favorite class so far is Latin--what a delightful surprise to hear her singing the "counting song" in the shower! Academically, she is thriving, and we just love that.

I could not have asked for a better experience for my children at Holy Family! My daughter was ready for college and the college counselors worked very closely with her to help her achieve her goals. Not only are the College Preparatory academics and athletic program outstanding but my daughter was able to include her Catholic faith in everything she did daily. Holy Family truly educates the whole person!

Not sure why anyone would opt for a catholic education when it's really a overpriced, low quality education, with Catholic trappings.
